Twilight"New Moon" Inspired poem entitled "Magnets"

If you are a fan of Twilight series then you should know that New Moon is not the honeymoon phase of their courtship, I entitled it "Magnets" because even though you may be able too pull magnets apart they always are binded back together by the same chemsitry....

"Magnets"

Lost in this solitude of complaceney

You ask who is the real me

Offended by fact that words will fail to shed the light

Into my impervious determined plight

You lie bare and raw… Continue

Well I was feeling left out because everyone went to se U2 the glorious guys of all time etc. but some grungemaster sold me a ticket to MM- (Marilyn Manson)

Turns out it was a second hand ticket that didn't work so I had to buy another on for $40 dollars on top of the $26 that I paid for a dud ticket-

Oh well- it was worth it to get good seats and wine and a corpulent seat person and an empty stadium-

The music was soso but the attitude of the audience made me… Continue

Two bits of news (that's twenty-five cents' worth)

My first article as a staff writer for Poetic Monthly Magazine was published today. There is a free pdf you can read; my article is on pages 60-61, titled "A Poet Does Not a Lyricist Make." Hope you enjoy it, along with the rest of the issue: http://www.poetstage.com/poeticmonthly.htm (click on "View free PDF:).

Also, most of my poetic form articles now appear on my new Associated Content page:… Continue

Some new stuff

Raining Glass

The sky cracks open large shards of broken glass fall from the sky.

No one seems to notice

Those with umbrellas simply ignore

And casually step over bodies

That litter the ash fault at their feet

Ripping Free

My dreams have been set free

But I didn’t do it

They have escaped

It ripped and tore my weak flesh

And left me here

Bleeding on the floor

With no dreams at… Continue

I'm moving my articles to AC

I have been posting my poetic form tutorials on my own website, 22 so far, but have decided to move them to Associated Content, a site devoted to articles and information from a wide variety of topics. On this site, my audience will be widened considerably.

For many years I have had columns published, both online and in print, about business practices and describing technology to the layperson. I plan on publishing some of those articles as well, and will get back to writing on those… Continue

Get Out of My Ghetto

Get Out of my Ghetto

Hey I know-
You want a show
Ho de ho-get out of my ghetto

Got rid of my bitterness a long time ago-
You can go too-
Get out of my ghetto-
You want to look around- don't make a sound-
You'll end up on the ground-
Get Get out out-
Get out of my ghetto-
My businessman's ghetto-

Is "Poet" just another way of saying "Unemployed"?

Jon Travis Train here.
My friends call me Jack.
My Native compadres call me "Ruffles the Feathers".
My enemies don't call me nothing,
because they are all dead.

One of my poems:

The Poet

It’s the hard edge that makes it real

The grittiness that makes you feel

The bitterness really comes across

And makes you feel the poets’ loss

He’s a tortured man, a lonely man

A man for whom nothing fits in place

His books and his words are everything

I’ve seen them write sunshine on his face

For in the world of normal men

He moves without a trace

But when he reads on a Thursday night

It’s with aplomb and… Continue

Poem chosen as a "Staff Pick"

One of my recent poems, "Keeper of the Grounds," was chosen as a "Staff Pick" for the month of September by GotPoetry.com. "Keeper" is a "terza rima" poem, an Italian form from the Middle Ages, once used by such poets as Dante, Milton, Byron, Robert Frost and T.S. Eliot.

This is the second time a poem of mine was selected as a GotPoetry.com Staff Pick. The first was "Brothers," chosen in September, 2008. I wonder if I'll be chosen in again September of 2010...

Ask Me My Age Again

Ask Me My Age Again (September 2nd, 2009)

Ask me my age again.

Do you want the short answer or the long answer?

You ask me my age,

But I do not believe

It's essential to receive

The answer which deceives

In order to converse.

The ordinary curse

Of looking older than you are

Or younger still by far,

Wiser than you're just

Or easier to mistrust,

Makes some of us lose comfort

Or gain undue… Continue
