I am a cloud hung above a dry island
electricity is building as the heat scorches the land
I cannot escape the crystal sand
as the boiling sea fuels me
I bloom like cancer and block out the sun

How long will this desert island stay dry?

Sounds like you have the gist of it.

More specifically its about refusing to let go of something that is
causing you and others pain. The tendency to cling to these things is
based on ego self-justification. And Its not just the singular ego,
but ego collectives: schools, companies, religions, life styles,
countries - whatever groups of people share and accept as part of
their identity.

This poem is trying to express this condition escalated to an
especially extreme state.

could be your sub-conscious mind makin a solid attempt at gettin the coscious mind to surface the darkness...probably related to growing up in an insane country of stress, pressure and demands from sick assholes on a sick planet. ......your poem kinna relates to my day....3 hours at the river doing yoga...........releasing a lifetime of mental patterns, negativity, stress. pain all that happy stuff just relieved to get rid of the cancer...............ciao
