In today's issue of the Hutchinson News, an article appeared about me and my relationship with Greensburg, KS, and the 5.4.7 Arts Center. "Poet, Arts Center 'Splendid' Partners," describes my new book as well as my interest in the small town's rebuilding efforts. About two hours west of Wichita, Greensburg was obliterated by an EF-5 tornado in May 2007.
'Splendid' refers to the title of my book, "A Splendid Alternative" and the title poem inspired by Greensburg's phoenix-like re-emergence from a state of debris. The 5.4.7 Arts Center is the first LEED Platinum-certified "green" building in the state.
Hutchinson News developed the article after receiving a joint press release about my donation to the Arts Center of all profits from sales of 'Splendid' at the Center and at Greensburg's Big Well, a tourist attraction.
Hutchinson, Kansas, is about 60 miles northwest of Wichita and has a large regional presence. For the story, go to
